Akhal-Teke horses & Ahal stables
5 days from $1490 easy
Five days with the golden horses of Turkmenistan — visit four state stables and ride at the foot of the Kopet Dag.
The Akhal-Teke is one of the oldest horse breeds in the world, prized for its metallic sheen coat and astonishing endurance. This five-day tour takes you behind the scenes at four working stables in the Ahal welayat, including the Presidential stables at Ak Bugday and the Geokdepe state breeding centre.
You'll meet trainers who can trace their family lineage back five generations of horsemen, learn how the breed survived the Soviet collectivisation, and ride (at all skill levels) along the foothills of the Kopet Dag mountains.
